More About
Colette often works in a style developed from decades of living and working among Australian Aboriginal artists where she first realised her own talent. These artists remain an inspiration. Other influences include Hundertwasser, Gaudi, and Hiya Miyazaki of Ghibli Studios.
Her art is mainly acrylic on canvas with some pieces reproduced on sustainable vegan silk, cards, notepads, coffee mugs and high-quality prints, but always working on new ideas to further develop her unique style.
Colette has published two books, Under the Dreamtime Sky and Adultery, An Artful Affair, the latter, a unique novel, illustrated by Frankie Bakker, told in the form of prose poetry. With articles and photographs published in several Australian magazines as a free-lance writer and photographer, Colette mostly concentrates on prose poetry these days.
She has twice been the judge of the Bell Hill Poetry Competition. She also writes for children, a skill developed in the classroom during her years as a teacher of English language and literature.
